I think where we got of track is there is a big difference between a Ranch Rifle and that Target Model. Obviously the OP shot pretty well with that standard Mini @ 100, but, I don't think he'll cover a dime with it.

Anyway, no hard feelings here either.

Many years ago, before one could take a cell phone pic, I shot a buck at around 100 yrds. right between the eyes with just the factory peep sites. It really amazed me how accurate that Mini 14 was. Dumb me I traded that SS Mini 14 for a TH-350 tranny for a 1983 Malibu which a few week later blew the engine, what a waste. I'm still mad at myself but that might be coming to an end as I have an opportunity to get a Mini 14 Ranch SS with scope, two thirty round magazines and one 20 round mag, plus two 580 round tins of ammo for $750.

That sounds like a heck of a deal, I see regular Ranch Rifles at the gun shows with just rings going for $800. I bet you didn't give over $350 for your original rifle back in the day.

I am amazed how these guns have gun up the past few years.

Over the years I've had several Mini 14s and also shot quite a few that my shooting buddies owned---my current crop includes 2 older (182-183) Mini 14 GB models - one blue, the other stainless and also one of the newest series stainless in black syn. stock. My blue GB would shoot 1 1/2-1 3/4" 5 shot groups @100 yds (back when my eyes were a lot younger)---my stainless rifle does not shoot nearly as well---3-3 1/2" are more the norm. I have not shot the newer rifle yet, so no news there. One of my friends had a "Ranch-Rifle" in the older series and it shot 1 1/2" groups (with scope) all day. Most the Minis I have shot are pretty much between @2 1/2-3 1/2" with open sights and ammo they "like". The important thing about accuracy is being able to hit what you're aiming at consistently and every Mini I handled who do that---in a nice light handy rifle.
