New mini owner

Can anyone tell me how to tell how old this mini 14 is ? The serial number is 182-12155. Just bought it from a friend and dont know much about them. I intend to sand down stock and paint OD green just wanted to make sure its not a real old one or has any value other than just a fine rifle.
