Is there anything I should know, about PMC ammo?

I ask because my Local Gun Store has a good deal on 55gr FMJ for $9/20 and it seems too good to be,true.

If you're not looking for clover shots at 150 yards buy em up.

Cheap range ammo is nice cause for 9$ you can put 20 rounds down range.

As apposed to hunting and match ammo where it's 30$ for 20 rounds.

I note that no one has posted here in quite a while. I'm new to the Mini-14. just picked up a 196 (non-ranch) and I am just getting into the game with it. I've been shooting a long time, like 40+ years and started reloading with my first gun. I am active in ASSRA (single shot schuetzen-style rifles and other single shots) competition.

I'm not into tactical stuff (not down on it, just not my style) and not into high volume high rates of fire. I am into nice wood, blue steel (and some stainless) and accuracy. never saw any value in high speed misses.

I have read through all the posted comments. what is the current situation with powders and bullets?

factory ammo is hard to find around here---and too much of it is in throwaway steel cases. Only larger stores and chains that can order in huge bulk are getting any in and it goes out as fast as resellers snatch it up---in spite of store limits--for sale to panic buyers at gun shows. a local large farm store chain has win FMJ in reloadable cases @ 15$/20 with a per person limit. twice as much as the 8$/20 throwaway stuff, but it is reloadable.

looking for a source for bulk bullets--any suggestions?

anyone noted any primer preferences for this round in these rifles?

I have two #8s of a mil-pulldown powder used for 223/5.56. its the powder that 322 was based on if I remember the infor properly. got it to use in other 22 & .17 centerfires (all singleshots)
Any one ever try the H110@ clone powder. a lot of our (ASSRA) shooters use it in small case (based on necked down 357 cases) high pressure loads and they are getting 1/2 MOA off the bench @ 200 yards with it.

I'm getting ready to start searching evil-bay for a set of dies. probably the Lee competition collet set w/a factory crimp. Need just enough to handle the loading cycle with out causing bullet shift and to insure consistent bullet pull/pressure.

It's hard to find good deals on bullets still. Here is a couple places that have bullets.
