It looked good from what I could tell but its quite a bit higher priced than anything I've seen online. Is it worth the extra money? The one on brownell is $20 plus s&h

With a little added investment to thread your barrel, you could take advantage of some world class flash hiders and muzzle brakes. I've shortened the barrel on my Mini-14 to explore some accuracy questions. When I settle on a barrel length, I'll have it threaded so that I can swap out flash hiders and muzzle brakes to find what I like. First on deck is the Troy Medieval flash suppressor. I may try a brake later.

The upper (long) one is a waste of money. The lower one is OK.

Threading a barrel is usually between $40 and $75, and the nice flash hiders start at about $45, though A2 style birdcage hiders are as cheap as $8. Muzzle brakes start at about $45 and run up to about $200 for some more exclusive labels.

The best reason to do this is it allows you to swap out at will, trying differnt things until you get what you want. It also opens up the door to a suppressor if you care to pony up for a stamp and order one. Shooting a suppressed rifle is a blast.
