Default Mini 30 No mention?

I'm partial to a garand action over a direct impingement action. Like the Mini 14 but want more punch. Also, probably will not be making 200 yard shots, (my range is only 100 yds), and if push comes to shove don't think the action will be over 150 yards. Soooo, I want something that will do a lot of damage within 100 yds. Mini 30 seems like a good choice. Ammo used to be relatively inexpensive. What are anyone's thoughts. Surprised there is not mention of the Mini 30 in any of the threads.

If I found find one for sale around here at a good price, I'd buy it but there's no chance of that considering they were few and far between before all this mess

All the minis have been hard to come by lately. The last new I saw for sale about 3 months ago sold for $1050.

some have claimed mini 30's have trouble with cheap, surplus ammo. thus, getting an sks or ak might be a better choice.

i have no idea if that is true or not. thoughts?

Gundoc posted some pictures on another forum showing the new 580+ series minis having a stronger firing pin. Maybe this will cure the light strikes on military ammo.

I had a 30 and only had problems with Tula. The Tula primers were not set at consistent depths and the deeper ones would get a light strike. Wolf and Silver Bear ran fine. You might look into the 6.8 SPC. I still see the ammo available but not cheap.
