Mini-14 vs M-14, How close can you get?
I have been a fan of the M-14 for a long time and when I picked up my Mini-14 581 series a couple years back, I was hoping to have a fairly close look to the original. Being that I live in California and am limited to some items that can be added to the rifle to complete the look, I was forced to compromise on some parts but all in all, thought it looks pretty close at the end.
I would like to see some other folks' efforts to create a true M-14 clone based off of the Mini-14. -- How close did you get? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...fan/mini14.jpg Here is mine, sitting next to it's big brother, my FedOrd M14SA for comparisons..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/Untitled.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/CIMG2152.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/CIMG2154.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/CIMG2153.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/CIMG2156.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/CIMG2155.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/CIMG2148.jpg Let us see some of your results! |
Darn you, I had my mind all made up that I wasn't going to go for a Mini-14 since it'd cost about as much as if I built an AR but then you go and post those pics and WOW, that rifle looks really amazing.
Guess I just need to keep an open mind and see what comes up with the funds will allow me to get into a semi auto rifle. One thing you could do, drill a hole in your safety so it'd look more like the one on the M1a1, also you could use a pad lock to secure the gun in the safe position too if you wanted too. Anyway, awesome looking Mini, thanks for sharing the pics. ;) |

Very nice! Someday I need to get a big brother, I save money and wind up with another mini! The scout rifles are very cool! I held the Ruger bolt action scout the other day and loved the feel of the light action!

Other than the magazine and the forearm somewhat, I can't really tell the difference, great job!

Wow, at first glance it's hard to tell. Very nice job! Looks vintage.

Great looking rifle!
One small suggestion replace your flash suppressor with this one (if it will fit your barrel) to get even closer to the M-14 look. http://www.riflestock.com/store/do/product/07-07-14 |
One of my M-14's (M1A SOCOM) and one of my Ranch Rifles.
