Default mini 14 for southpaws

I'm a lefty and was wondering if this would be a problem ...I can't own a 10/22(or most semi 22s) cuz I get SPRAYED in the face with gunpowder and sht. Is this a problem on a mini? I know 22 is filthy ammo but just figured id ask.

It hasn't been a problem for me, but then I own and shoot 5 10-22s so I'm a little surprised by your post. Are you trying to keep both eyes open? I wouldn't do that with the .22lr.

Dude idk...I've shot 2 10/22s I used to own one...a marlin 60 and an old Remington and its always been a problem...but I've shot aks n ars and never had a problem. I was just thinking since the action is different it might be a problem.

i was thinking about this, and i was like "yeah, i guess the mini might suck for a lefty..." when it just dawned on me that my nephew, who is a southpaw, never had any trouble at all with my mini. i didn't really think about it to be honest, even while we were shooting (other than he had to go to a lefty bench at the range).

and this isn't a knock, but i think the AR could possibly be a problem cause of all the blowback into the chamber (in your face). just thinking out loud there. but the AR charging handle (though i still don't like it) is far more ambidextrous than the mini.

Default Lefty

If you can wait until I clean it up, I'll drag my pops to the range (he shoots lefty even though right handed) and I'll have an answer for you.

But, he has shot my Baretta 391 Urika Tgt gun and Rem 11-87 20 ga w/o any issues.

In the Army they had some shell deflectors for the ARs but they were few. Army really didn't give a damn lefties. You had to adapt to them or put another way - adapting was your problem, not theirs.

I had never shot a left handed rifle until about 8 months ago. Never been a problem for me. I do always wear shooting glasses of some sort.

The only lefty gun was a bolt action I've ever shot. ARs don't bother me. Or AKs...never shot a gun with an action like the mini so...

I shoot lefty and have a Mini 14 and 10-22 with no problems, I used to own a Winchester semi 22 and got sprayed in the face with burning powder.
