My nephew has an older Ruger Mini 14. He recently purchased a Leupold Mark 4 Optic for it that requires "A True Picatinny Mount".
He purchased one from B Square but it was not a true picatinny and the slots are not correct in the mount to mount the Mark 4. So he sent it back and they sent him another. They sent the same model he had and the slots were not indexed properly. Once again a sales person that does not know his business! Sorry but that P---s me off! One of my pet peeves! It must be a *TRUE PICITINNY RAIL. Do any of you use one on your Mini and or know where he can find a true picatinny rail mount for the Mini 14 and what do the cost. I advised him to also call Clint at Fulton Armory.
Please advise if you can.

By older Mini I'm going to assume it's still a Ranch model. You won't likely find a true 1913 rail for it, but you can buy a blank section of rail from Brownells and mill out the base for the integral ring bases. This is about the only time I would drill and tap a Mini receiver, after annealing the integral bases. That will get you going. Otherwise you'll need to modify a weaver style base to work with a file.
