mini 14
Neighbor three houses away bought a Mini 14 from a pawn shop for $750.00 (nuts) We tried it today with 6 types of ammo, three different scopes, and 8 to 10 inch groups (patterns) at 100 yards. Got any suggestions other than using it for a tent stake. I checked and rechecked every screw, and anything else I cpould think of over a freezing two hour period. I suggested he return it to the pawn shop (good luck with that) or send it to Ruger. He is not happy.

Good grouping for a Mini!! I haven't even been able to hit the target material at 100 yds. with mine. Guess I'll just have to wait 'till they get closer!

If its the older 180 series Mini-14 he definately paid too much for it and accuracy on these skinny barelled guys really sucked. If it is a newer 580 series Mini-14 they go for new at present for about $700.00+. I bought a new 580 series in 2008 and with a Leupold VXI 2-7X30mm scope I shoot 1-3/4" groups at 100 yards all day long. The main improvements that this newer 580 series needs is a good trigger job and possible bedding. Also check your pull lenght of the stock as these factory stocks are undersized for my likings. I added 2 inches of length to mine with stack plates on the butt of the stock to correct the pull length for me and it really helped. The trigger job, bedding, and corrected lenght of stock for you may help with accuracy. My trigger weight now is just under 3 pounds and it makes a big difference for me. If your friend has the older 180 series theres not much you can do for it's accuracy problems without spending considerable dollars.

The new Mini-14s are kick ass from what I've seen...Shot one myself and was about to get an older model...but went with the Kel-Tec Instead...and that one is cheaper and better than the mini and an AR-15 HEHE....ahahaha.
Just wish I could afford the ammo....

Guess I lucked out. I have always read about how much people complain about Mini-14s and I have always got 2-3" groups at 100 yards.
Its a stainless one. Dont know if they were just better made or ???

So THAT is why almost nobody got shot on The A-Team, no wonder. Sorry, had to.

You could always have him add it to the debris pile next time you blow one up!
