Default Latest LE Minis

I see that the latest LE model Mini 14s are coming with 16" barrels but no flash suppressor. Looking at one at my LGS I also noted they changed the caliber designation on the receiver from .223 to 5.56 which is about time. They are also finishing the receivers better by polishing out the casting line down the center that was so prevalent with earlier examples.

All minis have been 223/5.56 chambered except the target model. Most likely to keep it away from the assault rifle list and geared towards hunters and ranchers. They have expanded the lines and offerings of the minis.

It's been established that the 16" barrel is an ideal length for the 223/5.56 but I'm not sure how effective the flash suppressor is on my 581. I'll have to shoot it at night to find out, I guess.

I realize that all Minis have a 5.56 mm chamber just noting the change from the .223 stamp on the receiver. Here's what my older Mini does with no flash suppressor firing Federal (Lake City) 55grn ball. I totally agree the not having a FS is geared to keeping off of any possible AWB.
