I like a wooden stock as well, and have some incredibly nice stocks on some of my guns, especially my trap guns. Unfortunately, the short length of pull and curved metal butt plate that make getting a good shoulder mount difficult mean I don't shoot it as much as I otherwise probably would.
The Mini-14 is more utilitarian from my point of view, so if I end up going with a synthetic stock, so be it, although after twenty plus years around M-16s and M-4s, I really don't get excited by black guns the way some seem to.
Snakedriver, those are some beautiful stocks, and a good advertisement in themselves.
