Dark Earth Cerakote on the Mini
Sprayed my Mini this morning, baked the parts for 2 hours at 250 degrees, and got it back together a while ago. I sprayed my 9 magazines and all the parts except my rear sight (which I will remove anyway when I get another Tech rear), and the firing pin and extractor. The Cerakote only puts on .001" so any or all of the internal parts can be done. And despite being a "paint" it adds some slickness to the action, I believe there's some Teflon in it, as well as ceramic. And yes, "dark earth" is really more of a light tan, don't know why someone named it "dark earth". My Mini, being a stainless model, didn't need the protection, although I have seen stainless rust if left in the rain long enough, or salty environments. When Hogue gets around to sending me the O.D. stock, it will really be an "all weather Mini". First pic is the parts after coming back from blasting. You can't really tell the color in the second pic, so I put the Aimpoint on and set a Surefire light and 1911 magazine in the last pic for perspective.
