Have any of you tried this product, and if so what do you think of it? It looks like an economical option. I am mainly wanting a thinner blade front sight since the stock one is like looking at a fence post on the end of the barrel.
Also, the Mo-Reaper is made of aluminum, is it not?
It would be overly simplistic to say the Mo-Reaper is made of aluminum. It is manufactured from 7075 Alloy, and then hard anodized. 7075 is a very hard alloy. We are not the first to use it for this sort of application.
I installed one of the Choates on my ranch rifle. It's not a bad part: casting is kind of rough, at least as compared to a fully machined finish. Since mine is scoped I don't actually use it as a sight, so I can't really comment on the difference in that respect. It does look nice though & the added weight seems to have changed the barrel harmonics and improved the accuracy. Just be aware that you will have to drill TWO new pin holes for the Choate, as it does not use the original sight pin hole. This is moderately difficult but obviously pretty much permanent...
