Best place to buy mini

I'm looking for a fairly cheap semi auto rifle such as a mini 14 or an sks. Anybody seen either of these or a similar for a good deal?

in a thread below called "dude, mini," i think a poster had a link to cdnn, with some of the better prices i have seen on mini's lately.

I aged that CDNN would be the best online source, also Buds Guns has good pricing but not always in stock. I don't know if you can get Academy or Bass Pro or Cabela's to match the online price tho.

Alright. Would local gun shops be good to check too? I might headout tomorrow and see what there is to find

well, try to make sure you include all "hidden" costs. if you order online, you might have to pay ffl, ship, background checks, etc (depending on your state). at your local GS, you will have taxes to consider. sometimes the internet deals look great until you add it all up, and then it isn't that much cheaper, if at all.

unless online is $50 or more cheaper, i always go with my local GS. why? my GS has a very good track record with me in taking care of problems. also, its nice imo to handle & inspect the gun you want to buy before the purchase. and then the satisfaction of having it your hands instantly when you make the purchase.

after puchasing your gun, you'll likely find it a bit cheaper somewhere else (if you have my luck anyway). but i have only really been burned once by this, finding a gun about $70 cheaper online a few months after i bought it. OUCH! but you can never predict these things.

in the end, as long as you don't grossly overpay, the prices will be pretty close most of the time. i think being happy with the gun is more important than getting the absolute cheapest price! :)

Ha yeah probably true. Yet when trying to decide between guns it seems like such a big deal

What is the general price range for a new mini anyway the msrp is way up there and I'm still deciding between getting a mini or an ar and from the looks of it so far the ar is looking cheaper to me....

I was looking for one myself, I seen them new for around 800, and used at around 450 500, I was at a gun show 2 months ago, and I should of picked it up at 550 it was a tactical and nice. The mini 30 is 7.62 and cost about the same, but I have not seen many used.

Ha well we will always have those shoulda coulda woulda moments. Im leaning towards an sks right now. To me it's a good bang for the buck rifle and I don't know of any clear advantages the mini has over the sks
