DefaultAmmunition Question

Is there any benefit to shooting LC. M855 62 gr. ammunition over the LC XM 193 55gr. in a newer Mini 14? What if any, is the advantage? The barrel is a 1:9 twist.

If it puts holes in something 100yds away, I shoot it! My mini isn't for hunting, it isn't for marksmanship competition. Until I do an AR build, it is my 5.56X45 NATO platform.

Not sure that the heavier or lighter bullet would make much difference......unless it's cheaper ammo!!

I've been using federal XM193 and it shoots quite well. I just wondered if it was worth the extra expense to go to the M855 62grain ammunition.

I think I'll stick to the cheaper stuff. After all, the Mini is what it is. Although I have a huge fondness for them, warts and all.

The 62gr in theary, should be more stable a longer ranges and therefore slightly more accurate. At shorter ranges it would be a toss-up. Use what your Mini likes best...
