Wife's first time shooting my AR

Here is a pic of my wife shooting my AR. This is the first time she has fired anything without my help holding the firearm. I'm so proud of her!

Also, she had only previously shot a handful of rounds out of my .22 revolver and .22 bolt action rifle prior to shooting yesterday. She had a lot of fun and already wants to go to the range again!

Awesome!! I like shooting guns, too. Why should guys have all the fun? :D

Tell her I said she looks great in that photo.

Congratulations, now you get to by another AR or three. :D

Now that I am back to a computer and can do more of a range report, I will update this thread.

Saturday my wife and I went shooting with some friends of ours. The firearms list included 2 ARs, a 300 Win Mag, a 17 HMR rifle, a ruger .22 pistol, a .38 revolver, a 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser, a .22 revolver, .22 rifle, and an XD45 compact. This list was between what I owned and what our friends owned and is certainly not exhaustive. Most of the shooting was done by myself and my friend while our wives mostly observed and conversed with each other. My wife did want to try to shoot the firearms that didn't kick. I tried showing how to shoot the .22 pistol but she didn't really want to shoot it. I then set her up with my AR with a red dot sight mounted to the carrying handle. This allowed her to keep both eyes open and consistently hit the target. She really loved it and already wants to go shooting again. My wife is very much a girly girl and so when she showed the picture to a lot of her friends (via facbook) they were very surprised to see her shooting. I am very proud of her for her willingness to learn to shoot and can't wait to take her to the range again. Overall we had a fun afternoon shooting.

be warned.... you now have to buy a lot more .223 ammo. as i have just discovered. :).. its great to gain a new shooting buddy. especially one whom you love.

Thanks to having a surplus of ammo, I haven't had to buy any .223 ammo until Saturday prior to going shooting. I wasn't aware that it costs nearly $40 for a box of 100 rounds of ball ammo for .223! If anyone has any .223 ammo they just don't want anymore I will be happy to alleviate them of their excess surplus :)

What is this 'surplus ammo' you speak of?
