At 7 yards you would still have one very ventilated attacker based on most of those shots. Low and in the middle is still in the middle.

For what it's worth, I feel your pain. I've never been a great handgunner even though I try hard. I do well above average on open sights with rifles and have made some amazing shots. Give me a scope or almost any kind of handgun and I turn into Barney Fife. I've gotten a lot better with time and it's taken some honest assessment, frustration, practice, and adjustment to get to solidly average. If you're worst shooting is with your little subcompact, well, that's probably about right. I shot pretty good with a S&W Shield, but did much better with a full size handgun.

All that said, really glad to see someone bother practicing with their carry gun. It drives me nutz when people talk about their range toys but never fire the gun they trust their life with.

when i was practicing for my ccw course i had my target at about 21 feet and was trying to get 2 - 3 inch groupings. I can manage that now but its asking alot out of a small gun. stick to 15 ft and closer for the P238. I also saw some very good points on here put your focus on the front sight and the back site will take care of itself. When im shooting i dont even see my back site. here i got a picture from the last time i was shooting keep in mind this was 1 round per second rapid fire at 21 feet.
with a sig P238. you really have to learn how to just let go and squeese the trigger. As yoda would say "Think not Just do". lol on a side note im a geek....
