With the vanguard .223 in 1:12" twist, are you guys getting some tight groups? With what ammo?

The 1:12 twist is for 55 grn or lighter. Look in the 45-53 range. My CZ with 1:12 loves 45 grn bullets. I would like to get a bolt with 1:9 or 1:8 to handle the heavier bullets. Savage uses a 1:9 twist. Tikka T3 light has a 1:8 twist.

Default remington R-25

Hey JTJ, thanks for the response on the Weatherby .223. The weather hasn't permitted a good shooting day yet but I'm anxious to try the lighter grain bullets. Had another question: I also have a Remington R-25 in .308 caliber and was wanting to chat with some folks about it. I'm new to this site and I am having no luck finding a thread pertaining to the R-25. Any suggestions?

CZ uses a 1:9 in their Varminter.

You were right. I tried some cheap Fiocchi 40 grain vmax bullets and was making the same hole bigger at 100 yards with the Weatherby. We're getting there.

I wish they had used the 1:9 in my 527 American with the lighter barrel. My grandsons Savage 1:9 handles the 55 and 62 grn very nicely. He brought the rifle to our house a couple of years ago and I threw some 55 grn Hornady fmj loads together with H335. He was printing under an inch at 100 yards.
