Not always.
when it comes to rifles its a tough contest between the wife and i.. put a pistol in her hand i bet that barn is safe to paint on while she shoots.

18 shot group, firing fairly quickly, at 12 or 15ft with my Heritage Rough Rider .22 3 inch barrel with bird's head grip.

10/22 Target model straight out of the box with a Simmons 3x9 scope. It took about 10 shots to zero the scope. 50 yards on a shaky hand resting on a box for support. I need to get a range bag soon. imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1396893285.356845.jpg

I took the new 6.5-06 I built out today, and shot some test loads. I think it might just turn into a decent shooter!

Took my 1858 to the range today. The old girl did pretty good at 40 feet. Used a. 451 ball and 30 grains of American Pioneer.
