Went to the range today to try out a new load for my .308Win Tikka. This was the first bach I've ever loaded myself and I wasn't expecting much but left from the range pretty happy. Weather was ok, temp around 37F, no wind.

Load data:
Zenith primers
Hornady Match brass
Lapua Scenar S HPBT 168gr
44.3-48.2gr of Vihtavuori N550 powder
OAL 2.795"

I had loaded the ammo in batches of three with ~0.5gr variation between batches to find the best powder charge and hit the sweet spot at 46.7grs. Next I'll start playing with the bullet seating depth, although the Tikka's original magazine doesn't give too much room to play with. With a OAL of 2.835" the rounds should still fit in the magazine and have the bullet touching the lands. Too bad I have to wait until spring to get to shoot at longer ranges than 100m

Also got test a friends AR-15 built for IPSC and SRA, now I seriously want one

100m, 3 shots, 46.7grs of N550, 0.3"



48.2grs worked well also, 0.35"

Nice shooting.Looks like you might have a couple of good loads worked up.

Don't be surpised if they change when the temp gets warmer.I always note the temp on the loads I shoot. Grouping and Chamber pressure changes with the tempurature depending on the powders used.
I have different loads for warmer weather/cooler weather with most guns.

What brand of suppressor are you using?
How well do you like it?

Thanks, almost forgot about the temp, writing it down to my notebook right now.

The supressor is a Noise Stopper .30cal, made here in Finland. It's a cheap one that came with the gun. Works well enough to shoot without hearing protection but I'm sure there are better ones. It's also a bit heavy and I've been thinking about finding a lighter one that would also make the gun a bit quieter but have a few guns to buy before a new supressor.
