Ok ladies and gents, I finally have my range report for the 1911 I purchased about 2 weeks ago. Weather and work have had me itching to shoot this thing for too long.
I really wanted to put this gun through the ringer to see what it would do. I have heard a lot of crying from the plastic gun lovers out there about FTF, FTE and other problems with the 1911. Out to prove a point in a way I picked up several types of ammo.
First I started off with 50 rounds of Magtech FMJ 230 gr.
Then went on to shoot 50 rounds of ATK FMJ American Eagle 230 gr.
Next came 50 rounds of ATK JHP personal defense in 185 gr.
Finally I shot 100 rounds of Remington JHP in 230 gr.
After 250 rounds out of this fine specimen I did not have one hiccup or problem! The grouping varied slightly with the different ammo and it was a very windy day in the desert but overall the gun was spot on and I'm sure the handful of flyers we're my fault and not the firearms. With the Remington JHP rounds I shot all 100 rounds in a grouping a little bigger than a dollar! Sorry no pics as I did not bring a camera with and we trashed our targets. As for all the talk on here and other forums about the reliability of the 1911 I think it's pretty clear my Springfield is top notch and very reliable! I can now say I trust this weapon as my CCW and will not think twice about purchasing another Springfield in the future. So much for that so called break in period, this ones shootin hot right out of the box!! I'll put my forged steel up against any plastic out there
