i've been reloading some new mild pet loads in .308 cal. i'm using cast bullets that i got off a buddy a while back & the rifle im using is a stock fr8 rifle...the bullets are .309 180gr w/gas checks the charge is 15grs. of alliant herco no fillers..i have not chrono'd this load yet...but im guessing its in the 1700 to 1800fps range?...this is no bullseye hit of course,but i thought the grouping was pretty good for a old rifle with just iron sights,& shooting off deck railing while sitting on a 5gal. bucket..? the target looked like a small black dot from the 100yrd mark

It wouldn't hurt to put a scope on it, however, don't go throwing a cheap walmart scope on it you would be better off using the iron sights if you are going to do that. Also, if I were you I would work a little on my trigger pull (this is most likely why all of your bullets went to the same place while aiming at the bullseye)

yeah...i cant get the front sights adjusted any lower to bring up the muzzle..trigger pull huh?...would it be better to work on my trigger pull,do a trigger job on the gun itself or both..?(i have shot 30 or so rounds of the same handloads @ same distance & all where pretty much the same as far as shots touching each other,but they where @ the very bottom of target..so thats why i filed down some on the front sight..i would love to put a scope on it...but of course i'd have to tap the receiver and cut the rear sights off.. but i do think this gun would be an awsome 100yrd plinker with the right optics?..thanks for your input Samples.32
