So I picked up a Ruger Standard and took it to the range this morning.

It was about 70 degrees with a 10MPH wind at my back. The target was 15 feet away.

For my first time put with it and my limited pistol experience I think I did fairly well. We put 100 rounds of CCI mini-mags through it, we had 4 failure to feeds where the bullet would slam into the bottom of the feed ramp. I'll try different ammo next time.

For the gun being inexpensive and made in the 70's it is in very good condition with little wear in the bluing. I would say it was a good find and will be lots of fun.

Here's another pic because I know we all love gun porn.

Edit: sorry for the phone pictures I don't have a real camera.

They are great guns. I have one just like yours that was made in 1951. On the Ruger website(in the manual section) you can see the exact year it was made.

It looks like mine was made in '71 meaning it's older than me.
