Report: S&W M&P 40c .40
I picked up my new M&P compact .40 today and put 50 rounds through it during lunch. This is my first pistol and it's a compact, since I would like to carry, so I didn't have very high expectations that I was going to win any trophys. I'm just glad the range was empty, so I didn't embarrass myself too bad. (I don't think)
I was a bit shakey. Whether I contribute that to anxiousness, or no food all day and a large DD coffee, I don't know. Probably a bit from column A and B.
I like the feel of the gun, and from what I remember the recoil is not too different from 9mm. But, hopefully later this week I can go with my buddy and I can try a couple side by side. He's actually got a glock .357sig. (assuming he has ammo, cause you sure as hell can't find it around here.)
This was the first 10 rounds at 7 yards, at an indoor range. Intended target is pretty much at the widest part of the center mass. (crappy cell phone pic...sorry)
Sean
edit: OOPS..forgot. I did have one issue where the slide locked back with three rounds still in the magazine. I really just assumed my left hand bumped the slide lock, but for accuracy I'll report it anyhow.

Put another 50 on target today. One fail to load on the very last round. Thought I 'effed it up so I cleared and had the range officer clear it. Packed it up and headed back to work. Don't know currently if there are problems.

Nice! For the first ten rounds, that orange dude looks pretty dead.
edit* The color of the target isn't a message or anything, right?

Sean, have you seen this target for help? It is one of JD's favorites. Click there my Supporting Brother. Here's a link for you. Once you learn the trigger on the new baby, you will be dead on consistantly!

BTW, orangello is correct, one dead bad guy. The stomach shots would need a follow up to the head or chest if you want bad guy gone before he can return fire.

Good job Sean. And congratulations on the new MP. Don't sweat a couple FTFs in the first few hundred rounds. A little break in time is probably all you need. Give her a good clean and oil, and shoot another hundred.
I get my MP 45 out of gun jail this Friday. Gonna be a bang bang weekend.
PS need a better pic of the S&W

thanks for the pic. I would be interested to see future pics as well to see if you improve with the firearm or if that is a similar group with that firearm.
Thanks!

Ran 50 more through at lunch today...(well 58 really cause 8 defense rounds to get a feel).
No issues whatsoever. Previously jammed round was not damaged, and fired just fine. Here's another phone picture for ya.

Good job Sean, of course I am partial to the M&P .40 and .45. Center mass is what you want and you pretty much got that. Glad to hear no more firing issues. Keep on shooting, the groups will move up and center out and be tighter as you continue to shoot and get used to the .40.

Maybe it's just me, but the Hornaday Taps seemed more consistant/accurate than the other stuff run through it. Dunno.
