That was a good read Cane, something I'll certainly be keeping in mind. We've got 3 horses (2 of which I have shot off of before), so the arched MSH is something I'll look into for this gun and certainly for anything for wifey.

If you get a chance, call Allen. He's a hoot! He and Barb are two of the friendliest, knowledgeable and customer focused business people I have ever run into!

awesome report and awesome breakdown by canebrake!!

I'm lovin this new section of the forum. Can't wait to get a chance to do my range reports for my guns.

My buddy has a kimber 1999 and loves is. He has a les baer too and likes the kimber better. I need a 1911!!! Won't settle for the lower end ones either.

It should smooth out a lot more and get more crisp and lighter after about 500 rds. I hope that fact doesn't disappoint you.

If you think your slide stop is too short, search the web for Massad Ayoob's 1911 techniques. His hold has allowed me to be able to do this:

It's my 8" steel that I was shooting at 50 yards.

You'd definitely qualify for a CCW in Nevada. That's some good shootin' there, pardner....

I'm taking care of vehicle registration and TX DL on Wednesday, then as soon as I get the actual license I'm taking my TX CCW (should be the 2nd weekend of next month). Then I'll hopefully have it by the time I'm back from my wedding/honeymoon =) Now that's a present!

That was me at my peak. I don't shoot nearly enough to pull that off any more.

Took her out again late last week, 100 more rounds, still no misfires even with dirty Wolf ammo. Clerk at my local store said they were getting more ammo in tomorrow morning, so I'm hoping I can pick up something shiny then
