Range report Kimber Pro Varmint 22-250

1 Attachment(s)
Loaded Hornady V-Max 50-grain, Winchester 760 powder, Remington cases, and Winchester primers.

Started at upper left, 3 rounds each, and worked left to right on the top and bottom, finishing in the center target for five different powder loads.

First target was pretty good, only two holes with three bullets. Things went downhill from there. The next target, upper right, was coming along well until I jerked the last one. Some of the other groups were fair.

I'm having a blast working up different loads with different bullets and powders getting ready for my p-dog hunt in early June.

Don't be afraid to tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'll appreciate it!

Looking good. My first question would be how many rds through that barrel?

Those groups are your first loads? Nice.

Learn the rifle, and the groups will shrink. Small changes in powder charge will show drastic variances in group size.

I don't shoot .22-250 so have no pet data for you, but will ask around.

I went through about 20 rounds sighting it in with Sierra 50-grain Blitz. Before that, a completely new barrel.

Nice start Lon.
Do you have any different primers to load? I always try several different primers when testing loads, you'd be surprised what a difference it will make.

I have both Rem and Win, THB. Bass Pro here has been sold out of CCI and Wolf for weeks now.

Those groups are MOPD for sure. (Minute of prairie dog).

Of course you did not say the distance you were shooting from. Seeing the powder burns on the paper I'm guessing not too far.

Just kidding bro. Nice shooting.:D

100 yards. Should have said.
