Default PSA AR15 18" Rifle Length .223 Wylde 1:7 Stainless MOE Upper no. 7792329

I purchased (4) of these and wanted to take one for a quick spin. I grabbed a small assortment of ammo for preliminary testing. Scope used was a Simmons 8-point 3-9x40. Lower had the PSA enhanced polished trigger (near full weight still).

All shots were 100 yards, 5-shot groups except the Winchester frangible (4-shot group, didn't have a 5th round on hand). A Lead Sled was used.

Winchester Frangible: 3-7/8"
Fiocchi 69gr Match w. Sierra Matchking: 2-3/8"
American Eagle 50gr Varmint Tip: 2-1/2"
Hornady (not sure of grain, but it wasn't a v-max/polymer tip, some kind of subtle HP): 2-1/16"
Federal Gold Medal Match w. 69gr Sierra Match King: 1-5/8"

Worth noting, the first of the 5 FGMM hit high. The following 4 were a hair over 1"

Hit the range again to test some other ammo. Swapped out lowers to use a good 2 stage trigger. 5-shot groups 100 yards.

Nosler 77gr match HPBT: 1.75"
Nosler 77gr match HPBT: 0.875"
Ave Nosler: 1.31"

Gorilla 69gr: 1.43"

Thanks for the follow up, Shopfox! Glad to see these uppers are working out for you (and sons). It would be interesting to see how the four compare accuracy-wise, but that would eat up a lot of ammo.

That test will come eventually :-) I have some Black Hills Gold 77gr tipped Matchking, and 77gr OTM ammo on the way to settle the basic "what does it like best" accuracy questions. I'll probably put a better scope on it for the next/final round of testing.

The 1.3"-1.4" numbers aren't eye-popping great, but I think it's reasonable for a non-floated barrel. My Bushie carbine went from 1.75" to 1.25" with free-floating, so I'm hopeful these will be solidly MOA or better rifles with good ammo when they're finished. To be honest, for a $610 rifle with a cheap scope and rings, I'm satisfied.

My friend bought the same upper, so there'll eventually be 5 "identical" uppers to compare. That will be an interesting range day...

I took a second upper to the range with a Weaver Super Slam 3-15x50, and swapped lowers to use the Geissele SSA-E. (5) 5-shot groups from a lead sled. Shots at 100 yards.

Black Hills Gold 77gr OTM
Group 1: 1.286"
Group 2: 2.903" (4-shots were 0.889", not sure if the stray shot was me or the ammo... I'm more inclined to believe it's me)
Adjusted ave. 1.088"

Black Hills Gold 77gr tipped Matchking:
Group 1: 1.634"
Group 2: 1.148"
Ave: 1.391"

Federal Fusion 62gr:
1.100"

Ditch the Lead Sled! Get some good front/rear bags and I bet your groups will improve a bunch.
I've had a sled for 10+ years,I used it one time and it's been hanging on the wall of my shop ever since. I could never shoot a good group off the sled!
