Default Off to the range........

I'm leaving in a few minutes to GAT Guns to shoot a little and rent an LCP. I'm only bringing "Minnie" my Mark II Target Competition gun. I'm leaving "Maggie" behind. Shh......don't tell her, she'll be jealous.

I'm going to rent an LCP and maybe the LC9. I'm also going to ask them to show me similar guns I might like. I'll let you know how it goes when I get back.

One of these days I'm going to ask one of you "local yokels" to meet me at GAT Guns and help me along. I'm not quite brave enough yet.

Winds, I bet you don't like shooting the Elsie Pea.

And if you had to buy a box of 380, I'm sure you have plenty rounds remaining.

Its a great CCW but not fun to shoot.

I think you will find the Elsie 9 to be more to your liking.

You should look at the Elsie Ahrrr in 357 mag. Its a great CCW.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

You're probably already out the door but I'll say it anyways...The slide on the LCP does NOT lock back on the last shot so it's important to count your shots with that one.

Looking forward to hearing your takes on those guns...

Have fun, stay safe!!!

I'm back from the range. I shot my Mark II and rented and LC9 and a Kahr .380. They didn't have a LCP for me to try.

First, here's my Mark II, Minnie. Ain't she purdy?

Here's the target I shot with her. I set the target back to 75 ft and shot using the scope. It was a whole lot of fun!

Here's the target I shot with the LC9. All my bullets were way off to the left. I swear it wasn't me. I do believe the sights were off on this gun. I had the target set at around 7 yards.

Here's my target when I shot the Kahr P380. Again, the target was around 7 yards out.

I didn't like the LC9 at all. It had a lot of kick and it was like trying to hold a wild animal.

I then rented the Kahr .380 and I really liked shooting it. It was a fairly new rental gun, I was told, and it was pretty stiff and jammed more than I liked. But I really enjoyed shooting it. I liked it much better than the LC9.

So, then I wandered upstairs where they sell the guns and started looking around. I looked at the LCP and the Kahr .380 side by side. I liked the trigger on the Kahr better. I decided I want a .380 rather than a 9mm. So then the salesman started showing me other guns he thought I might like. He showed me a Bersa Thuner 380 and I liked the fact that it's SA/DA. It was a very nice gun and I preferred it over the LCP or the Kahr, at this point. But if I remember right, it was pretty pricey. I also looked at a Kel Tec P-3AT. I forget what I didn't like about that one. I can't remember which gun I looked at that was in the $700 but one of them was.

Then............we walked around the counter a ways and he showed me a Sig Sauer P238.

I think I fell in love the minute I pulled the trigger on that thing. It had the best trigger I've ever felt. It was the right size and it has a safety, which some of the others did not. It had night sights. But the trigger......oooh, the trigger........*stares off dreamily*
THEN I looked back down in the case and saw the Sig Sauer P238 Lady.

and I instantly wanted one. Not only is it beautiful but I really liked the Sig Sauer P238 out of all the guns I handled today. The selling price was $549. I think a Sig is in my very near future.

Please tell me what you all think. I will listen to any advice/comments/suggestions, etc. any of you are willing to throw my way.

What do you all think? I would like to particularly hear from anyone who owns any of these guns and has experience with them.

As always, thank you all for helping me along.

And as I sat staring at these guns.......and thinking.......there was a man standing next to me and he asked to see a Sig 9mm. I don't remember what model but it was a 'full sized' gun. He was excited as all get out as it was his very first gun purchase. We chatted for a couple minutes then I let him get on with his purchase. It was fun to see this guy making his first gun purchase.

I didn't like the LC9 at all. Of the two rental guns I shot, I preferred the Kahr P380 for ease of handling. That LC9 had some kick to it! I liked the .380 much better.

I shot the whole 50 rounds of 9mm. I only shot 25 rounds of the .380. I figured I'd save the other 25 rounds to shoot out of my own .380.....when I buy one. Actually, I knew within 25 rounds I liked the .380 better. And I was kind of getting tired.

Go for it Winds. Sig makes a fine gun. You may be able to talk them down a little on the price too.
