tonite the wife and i went and shot my new XDm 45ACP 4.5". im pretty impressed with it. along with the nice pelican case it comes with 2 mags holster loader and mag pouch. until november springfield is offering with new XD/XDm purchases 3 extra mags and a mag pouch free. that deal is what prompted me to finally get a XDm.
this group was shot at 15 yards with 14 rounds of awc 230grn self defense hollow points.
this was 40 rounds (3 mags +1 chamber) at 15 yards using berry plated 230grn fmj over 6.1 grains of unique. listed fps out of a 5" 1911 is 850fps for this loading
this is 40 more rounds of fmj rapid fire at 15 yards.
no fte ftf over 200 rounds fired. there was one stoppage due to overlong case on a reload as i dont trim range pistol brass. i find case stretch to be so minimal on pistol brass its not worth the effort to measure them all.
one of the things i found interesting is that the 2nd to the last round fired in a magazine upon firing and chambering the last round the gun produces a strange sproinging sound reminiscent of the sproing of a AR15 buffer tube on cycling.
its very very easy to shoot handgun the felt recoil is a little less than my colt series 70 but the muzzle flip is a little worse making it just a hair slower than a full size 1911. i would say its easier and faster and more comfy to shoot than my sig P220. i think the difference in felt recoil is the wider grip so the force of recoil is spread better across the palm.
the cz97BD still beats it for accuracy speed and felt recoil. but the cz97BD is all steal and very heavy.
anyway i give this gun a very very very close second to the 1911. i still prefer the 1911 but i will feel very comy carrying this for ccw/oc. i REALLY like the XDm 45
