my remington 870 is not extracting.

IV had my remington 870 for two rlyears now, after about ten rounds it jams up and dos not extrat the shell. I had it cleaned really well and it still jams. The bolt dos not move and I feel like it is a problem with the extraction spring. Anyone else have this problem?

If the bolt does not move it means the extractors are working fine and holding on tight to the shell. Remove the barrel and stick your finger into the chamber and feel all around the chamber area. It should be perfectly smooth with no bumps or rough spots what-so-ever. If you feel anything clean the chamber until its smooth. That is the most likely reason for the shell sticking in there.

Rem 870

In addition to what hiwall indicated which is a good first step, make sure you are using new, clean ammunition which shouldn't bind. Should that fail, I would get an armorer or gun smith to replace the extractor if it appears that the grasping edge is rounded and unable to get good purchase on the rim of the fired shell.

I have an easy fix, trade it for a mossberg :)

I would take the barrel off, chuck an old brass bore brush (the same gauge as your gun) on a length of cleaning rod into an adjustable speed drill, and polish the chamber. I use mineral spirits or diesel fuel as a lubricant.
It works. Just don't get carried away with the drill speed.
