I took my new (to me) Ruger SR9 to the range the other day. I love this gun! Let’s talk about what’s in the box first. Included was the SR9, two 17 round mags, a mag loader and the spent shell from the factory, all in the original box. The SR9 has a reversible back strap that make the grip perfect for someone with big mits like mine. I also really like the mag loader, no more thumb fatigue for me. It is very low tech but extremely helpful.
Now for the range. The first 5 rounds tore through the center ring at 15 ft (about 1 inch group). The next 5 I picked up the pace and still 3 hit the center and 2 were just outside, the recoil on this gun is smooth and I can get back on target quick. I then decided to test my double tap skills. My first group was about 3-4 inches apart, second about the same. From there I walked it in until I was putting out 1.5 inch groups each time. Not too bad cause this is my first 9mm.
200 rounds later I am sad to see my last empty eject. During this entire trip, I did not experience a single FTF, FTE, stove pipe or misfire. My buddies Browning High Power jammed (FTF mostly) at least a dozen times. Once again, I love this gun.
I find it easier to post pics with my phone so they will be up in a second. I gat a little carried away and forgot to take a picture of the target until about 50-75 rounds in
