IMC Sydney Open comp
First time attending one of these comps. Unfortunately I'm not licensed yet so could not participate (the Firearms Registry is notoriously slow!) and this level of competition is probably well beyond me @ this stage anyway...but was able to get some pics. Learned quite a bit just watching & talking to people nonetheless. Including the hell that one guy went through trying to import an AR-style stock...due to our insane regs, anything that looks "black & scary" may be prohibited from import at the discretion of Customs...and who knows how much THEY know lol. Even if it's to fit onto a perfectly ordinary & legal single-shot shotgun or bolt action!
100m Slow Fire Application, Standing U/S 2 sighters + 10 rounds 12min
200m Rapid Fire, Sitting U/S 2 sighters + 10 rounds 60sec,
300m Rapid Fire, Prone U/S 2 sighters + 10 rounds 70sec,
400m Slow Fire Application, Prone U/S 2 sighters + 20 rounds 22min.
Quite a range of service rifles, all bolt action as per regulations. I liked the old .303 which did very well in the longer distance categories, not surprisingly.
The 4 range distances~
Apologies in advance, there are quite a few pics...I have no one else to share them with except you guys lol
The .303 in question
Tikka @ 100m
Jon @ 100m - with very suspicious-looking BLACK barrel shroud-thing lol
.303 @ 200m
Looks like a nice day and a great shoot.
Thanks for posting
Possibly too black & scary in the future? Who can tell :p
still, I do want one!
Finally got them all up, in about an hour lol...sometimes I think dialup is going to make my head explode
What are the specs on Jon's rifle?
Still have some remaining hair left, just :p
Sorry matt, I didn't get to ask about the specs...just watched from the sidelines so to speak, tried not to get in people's way etc lol. But I will ask him on Saturday when the pistol session is on. Can't actively take part in that comp either, not having done the safety training course as yet, so I just get to stand there, get handed the gun, shoot from a stationary position etc...my scores are not recorded (probably just as well lol). While everyone else moves between targets. We are watched like hawks on ranges here...no just going out and plinking by yourself for relative newbies or getting off a coupla hundred rounds; it doesn't work like that here. Everything is uber-controlled.
Which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing, safety-wise.
Look forward to getting more pics up as they become available ;)
