Myself, the wife and the youngest headed up to the range yesterday for some powder therapy. The wife and youngest had rough days whereas I finally had a good day of decent results.
Youngest was just off. He couldnt hit as well as he expects with anything. Scattered 'em all over the paper with the Ruger carbine on the two volleys he sent downrange. He was uncharacteristically all over with the Win 61. Then on his second time up with the 1911 got his webbing pinched by the slide. That was it for him. He packed it in and headed for the truck and took a nap. In his defense he was coming down with a sinus cold/infection that really showed itself this morning.
The wife had an almost equally tough day. (about time!) After the past few outings where everything she touched she was money. She was NOT happy with the new .45 acp reloads. I even have a video clip of her asking "What did you do to my gun!" She couldnt get the PF-9 to cycle reliably at all due to limp wristing it. Although she hit decent when it did cycle for her. She finally decided to shoot the 686 with magnum loads. But she was high and left with all her shots. She was finally able to redeem herself over on the 50 yd range with some decent (but not nearly as accurate as what she or I have come to expect) groupings.
I on the other hand, finally had a good day. The 1911 reloads ran perfectly for me and grouped well. The only FTF was one with the wife, i have to attribute that to her limp wristing it again and not the round. The PF-9 ran well and i am happy with my groupings at 10 yds. The .357 magnum reloads ran and hit well for me. The slow fire were all in the red. The rapid fire were decidedly, well, not so much. The 240 gr Hornady XTP's hit and grouped VERY well for me out of the Ruger carbine.
Finally, for the first time in a few trips, i dont have to listen to the wife and youngest gloat about how they showed me up. I have bragging rights until our next trip up.
My 1911 results...
1911 rapid fire...
PF-9 in my hands...I think it s acceptable grouping at 10 yds.
My results from 2 cylinders of .357 mag. Upper 6 rapid fire. Lower 6 slow fire.
Wifes 2 best from the Ruger .44 mag.
My results, 2 separate volleys of 5 rounds each from the Ruger .44 mag.
A cool shot of brass flying...
A cool shot of the wife and the 686...
