Default Davis D-22 Derringer

I had shot the Derringer at up to 50 yards with fairly good consistency, it seems one barrel is tricky; but haven't hit with it any further... until today.

I need to work on figuring where the bottom barrel is hitting. I thought it was hitting higher than the top barrel but I'm not so sure anymore... it could be that the top barrel likes these Blazers, and the bottom barrel likes Winchester ammo.

To help your aim try placing your index finger along side the barrel and pull the trigger with our middle finger.

I really have no problems shooting it like I do.

It is just that when I get passed 30 yards the POA/POI gets hard to figure out. The barrels aren't aligned as carefully as one might think, so it gets confusing as to which barrel hits where with which ammo.

Then, I was figuring for a bit of drop so I was aiming higher at 100 yards; today I found out I needed to aim lower... and I still didn't quite figure out where the bottom barrel was hitting.

It isn't a technique problem, it is a confusing POA problem.

Thanks for your input!

I think I have the same brand gun but mine is Nickle and 22 Mag. The barrels shoot close but each has it's own POI as range increases. Hard trigger pull is the greatest enemy to accuracy and greatest friend to your feet.

I carried it a lot while hiking in AZ w safety on - never had a problem. Very reliable for an inexpensive piece and in 22 Mag, the platform has a lethal history.
