I am an NRA certified chief range safety officer. I RO at many events, and 99.9% of the shooter are very safety conscious and follow the range rules. There are a very few shooters from my experience that need to be escorted off of the range and told never to return. I try never to embarrass anyone as I find that if someone is breaking the rules, a smile, quiet voice, and a simple explanation works wonders. If someone wants to get confrontational with me, they are GONE. Safety is not negotiable at the ranges I belong to. I am responsible for the safety of every one there and I will do what ever I feel it takes to keep things safe. I would suggest that if a person has a problem with the RO doing his or her job, then they need to find another place to shoot.
