Get it anyway. There's other benefits to having a CWP than just on person concealed carry...
  • Being legally able to just throw your gun and ammo in the same bag and on the front seat of your car.
  • Being able to skip the background check when you buy a new gun.
  • Making it harder for the piece-of-pelosi gun grabbers to to take away the right to carry because they see just how many are carrying.
  • Being able to travel with a gun in your car in case you break down in BFE.
Nice move with the Supporting Member deal so soon! *thumbs up*!

BTW, what's your user name stand for?

It's related to my name. I'll just leave it at that for the sake of annonimity.

Here in Montana you have to do a background check when you get your CWP, so when you buy a gun you just show the dealer your permit and they don't have to call in a background check which should only take a couple minutes unless they delay you, which they can do for up to three days. Although I've never been delayed, my wife got delayed every single time she buys a gun.

Yes, it's also anywhere on the side of the road after dark or in a bad neighborhood.

OK, but you won't be able to play here...

Do go ahead with the Concealed Weapon or Firearm License (Florida's name). As mentioned earlier, it lets you skip the background check (because it's already been done to get the license) and the three-day waiting period. So if you find a good deal from a dealer at a gun show, you can walk out the door with your new handgun.

It also allows you to keep your handgun in your car in some places where non-license holders can't. And it allows you to carry a Taser (as opposed to a stun gun) and to carry a knife in your pocket that a judge might not view as a "common pocketknife."

And just because you have the license doesn't mean you have to carry.

And if you get up to NE Florida, give me a shout.

For the benefit of new shooters in other states, Oklahoma (among others) does NOT exempt a CCW holder from the background check when buying a handgun. At least there is no wait period here.

In Florida that how is works. If you have a CWL you still have a background check but the normal 3-day waiting period is not enforced for those with a CWL.

Sorry about that, I worded my previous post poorly. The dealer still makes the phone call, but there's no waiting period.

I am in Ft. Lauderdale if you are setting something up, I will be down. I bought a beretta Px4 .40 a year ago and I plan on getting a CZ 75b very soon.

For long-time members, we should just ask newer members (like dnthmn did) to become supporting members. That's how I became a made man like knfxda, someone urged me to.

*

I now use ear plugs under the headset. My first times shooting were very physically stressful. Emotionally I got a huge rush, but my body was not happy. Still, that first pop in the lane next to me causes my heart to race.

At least now I'M the one with the huge .45 causing others to jump outta their skin.

I'm too cheap to spend more than an hour shooting. The web of my right hand is the only thing hurting, and my wallet.
