Sounds like you'd be better off with a 'Forward Rifle Observer'.

Is he going to buy another scope for the 10/22 if that scope goes on the other rifle and if so is he going to pay another $500. For it too just in case he buys another rifle. I doubt it. Thats why I say there is nothing wrong with buying a scope that doesn't cost $500.
Im looking into getting a Remington 700 or maybe a savage in 308. Later down the road when i do buy one id like to have that scope handy and not have to worry about another 500$ to spend i can do just find with iron sights on a 22 i dont think i would keep a 500$ scope for 22. Very long just for fun or maybe to see how accurate it is or to plink also i can most likely mount dovetail or picatany style scope rings on there the base can be adjusted

Well If thats what you want to do, I say go for it. Hell you might find a great deal on a good rifle to put that scope on. If your like me and you just want something, you find a way to get it. And it sounds like you want this. Its not like it won't be used and sitting on a shelf. And if it is I bet it won't be long. You'll be itching to find a rifle to put that bad boy on.

It isn't. I have a $150 Nikko Stirling Diamond scope that has experienced 2500+ shots with a 30-06. I've fallen on a few times, bumped it hard a few times, but it still holds zero and tracks perfectly.
The glass isn't all that clear, it has a plain reticle, the illumination doesn't work as expected in low light; but it seems tough enough for an average recoil and use.
