typical battery life of a red dot?
 

i used to have a cheap tasco red dot on my mossy 500. but i sold the thing before the battery ever got low. now that i have an empty rail on my mossberg, im looking to get a new red dot sight, but my main concern is... the thought of replacing a battery on my weapon drives me nuts! so i was wondering, how long does the battery on a typical red dot sight last??

Depends on brand and type of battery. Buy cheap you'll pay for it in batteries, spend the money up front and save in the long run.

Look up the Bushnell TRS 25 and the Vortex Sparc. Both low mount mini red dots with good to excellent battery life. Aimpoints and Eotechs of course are in a league of their own.

now i got mine from walmart as well...probly the same one you did...and i used it much more than 1 hour of run time

Several of the Aimpoints will last 3-4 YEARS continuous operation.

Look on Aimpoints website and read the specs.

Don't expect that from a Wal-Mart "el cheapo" though.

The Busnell TRS 25 is specked at 3000 hours. The Aimpoint PRO is meant to be left on so there is nothing to turn on when you pick it up.
