Thompson Encore

I got a Encore 50 cal muzzleloader for Christmas. It has a one piece Weaver style mount on it from the factory, no iron sights or front bead, so I bought some rings and tried to mount my Bushnell Elite 3200 this afternoon. I don't know why they designed this gun this way but once you mount a scope it is almost impossible to cock the hammer. I even turned the hammer to the side which is supposedly to remedy this problem but it is still extremely difficult to cock with the scope in place. I am going to pick up a set of high rings and hopefully this remedies the problem.

You need a hammer extension, I have one on my Marlin 30-30 for just this very reason. It's basically a small knob that hangs out on the left or right side of the hammer so your thumb can cock the rifle.

I'll see if I can find a picture of one.
