what distance are you really thinking? 150yards and closer? i would say look for a 1x4 or 2x7. if you are thinking 150 to 250 yards. look for a 3x9. and more than 250yrds go as high as you can afford. 4x12, 4x16.

depending on your budget there are alot of brands that may or may not be in your price range. nikon, burris, vortex are good brands to look into. they have good to really good optics at really reasonable prices. if you want to spend more you can but i dont see the benefit unless your shooting for bullseyes at long distance ALL the time. leopuld makes good scopes but are expensive. so are trijicon, and swarvorski. i would stay away from bushnell, simmons, tasco, barska and other similir scopes when there are other great brands like i mentioned at the begining.

a 2x7, or 3x9 will probly fit your needs the best. and thats great news. nikons, burris, and vortex are almost always under 200. go to a shop and look through them to see the clarity and compare.

I just put an Aimsport tactical 3-9x40 I got on amazon. It is really a good scope for the $60 I paid. Very little parallax.
