you dont want the scope touching anything but the rings, but you want the scope as low as possible.

If you have good eyesight (mine are aging) and some practice time, you should be able to make 100 yards with peep sights, probably wouldn't be far off with the original sights.
Thanks but i will try aperture peep sights.

i was able to repeatedly hit a bowling pin at 100 yards with the factory sights. i think peep sights would be fine. my eyes are aging too, i stare at a computer screen 8 hours a day.

I guess i am just too picky, but i tried the model like that but with only one mounting rail and just couldn't keep it steady.

I will try to remember to look for which ones i still have in the drawer to take a picture.

I did have to dremel a bit off my Tapco stock to get proper fit, right behind the receiver. You could probably do it with a pocket knife.

if you really want to scope a SKS, I would recommend a POSP scope from Kalinka.. Thats what I did to mine, its rock solid!

I had considered that route with the Molot mount to drop it down a bit, but it started looking like more than i really needed to spend, so i backed away.

Down here, i'm not going to have very many long shots.
