Sks mount problems

I have a chinees mod sks and i have some problems with mounting a scope. when spent casings fly out they hit my scope and gets it of zero.
Plz help! Thanks

you just need a shell deflector. tons of different choices. snaps into the iron sights. just google "sks shell deflector" and no less than eleventy billion will pop up.

EDIT-if you have a scope getting knocked out zero by an ejected spent casing, you may wanna find a new scope. i'm rocking a red dot on mine.

I never could get satisfied with the scope mount on my SKS. I tried two or three different receiver cover-mounts (one with set screws, one with a long rail, etc.) and was never satisfied that the scope stayed sighted in well enough. I did use a shell deflector like this one: Amazon.com: SKS SCOPE SHIELD: Sports & Outdoors but not from that seller.

In my opinion, an SKS user wanting a rock-solid scope mount should use one of the "scout" style mounts attached to the original rear sight or the gas-tube cover, or they should get a rail attached to the receiver (drilled & tapped by a 'smith).

I decided to settle for some peep sights on mine. SKS Sights

Opinions Vary!

cheek weld was always my biggest problem with putting a scope on my SKS (i have a folding stock on mine, bad choice btw, i hate it)

very uncomfy to shoot IMO. i have the tri rail on mine with a red dot and even that can be uncomfortable.

762. I tried the shell deflector. well i made one myself but the scope was touching it. maybe i need higher mounts what do you think? oh and by the way spen casings eject hit the shell deflector and pop back into the gun and JAMM.

Do you find peep sights comfortable? can you shoot further with them more accurate?

I think they increase the ease of use and reduce target aquisition time. They do extend the sight radius by a few inches, since they mount at the rear of the receiver.

I was pretty picky with my scope mounting; though i decided not to try it, there is a Choate mount that can be screwed into the side of the receiver by a 'smith, and it is said to be very solid (still would need shell deflector). I wanted a removable mount which would need a side rail screwed into the receiver and a scope mount to attach to the rail, $$$.

post up some pics of what you got, that'd be best.

you dont want the scope touching anything but the rings, but you want the scope as low as possible.

well im not sur if i want a scope on there or not. i call my sks "BrushMaster"
I take it into the brush a lot so im afraid that the scope will get bumped a lot and wont be accurate. Can you shoot 100 yards with a peep sight? if i will be able to shoot @ 100 yds with peep sights i will chose them.

"SKS Hi-Pro scope mount w/rings" SKS Mounts This one was plenty high enough on my Chinese SKS. It was probably the best i tried as far as keeping steady. It just wasn't good enough to satisfy picky me.

If you have good eyesight (mine are aging) and some practice time, you should be able to make 100 yards with peep sights, probably wouldn't be far off with the original sights.
