Default Simmons scope = junk

Picked up a cheap $60 scope for my new ruger 10/22. I wouldn't normally buy a cheap scope like this but I figured that it would be ok on a .22 with little recoil.

I mounted it and took it out today to sight it in. The first few shots hit paper but were low and to the left so I wound it up and to the right by 5 clicks in the dial. I fired 6 more shots and the scope broke!!....the cross hairs dropped out of position and fell loose in the scope body.

Less than 12 rounds and this thing was broken. I can't blame the recoil as I was just shooting regular .22lr rounds.

My first experience of Simmons and I'm unimpressed. I have no receipt to return the scope but if I pay $10 plus shipping Simmons will fix it.

Steer clear guys

Interesting.
I was shooting a 22 with a Simmons on it today and it was pretty good. Maybe it was a more expensive model or you just got a lemon. Idk

You are lucky mine went on the 3rd shot. But of course mine was on big bad .22 Magnum. The clerk at he LGS tried to talk me out of buying it. He said they were problems.

Sorry about your Simmons. Own at least 5 Simmons scopes. One is on a 22LR, rest are on centerfire rifles. Except for the 22 scope, rest are Pro-Hunter models made while Meade owned Simmons. Been decent scopes for me and my paper shooting.

I have never had a simmons scope break. But I realize they are made fast and cheap. I don't ask a lot of a Simmons. I usually get a fixed power scope when I buy a cheap scope.

Try a $30.00 Bushnell .22 scope. I have three of them and they are outstanding bargains.

I used to have a bunch of AETECS and liked them, but when the lit crosshairs died while still new and Meade wouldn't stand behind them, I was done. I've run into some from pre- Meade that held up pretty well it seems. Like one of the earlier posters if I were looking for a bargain I would go Bushnell, Banners and Trophy's have never done me wrong.
