Default scope for sks?

i wonder if the cabelas scope calibrated for 30-30 out to 300 yrds would be a good match for the sks....being they are about equal as medium range deer guns? the scope is around 100.00

THe hard part of using a scope on a SKS is how to mount it. A lot of people(myself included at one point) try the bolt cover mount. The problem is they have a bit of a problem sitting still. I opted to go with a holo sight that sits on a rail that is on the upper hand guard. But I don't try to shoot my SKS to 300 yards...Often anyway.

To get a reliable mount, you'd have to mount the rail directly to the frame. Otherwise it's a waste of time. You would have to drill and tap holes. I googled one on Midway's site.

Choate Mount

If it weren't for the fact I couldn't use stripper clips to load the magazine, I'd be all over this mount.

300 yards is pushing the 7.62x39 to it's limit. Normally a 200 yard shot would be better.

Here is a link that will give you lots of options. I've used them in the past.
