I just acquired a New Rifle (22-250) and was looking for a scope, I was shocked at the cost of scopes and how they have increased.

Being on fixed income I looked at a scope I have not had any experience with and thought I would bounce it off you guys to see what feed back I could get from here.

The Scope is a BARSKA Swat, 6X24x44 Ballistic Dot, Illuminated Side Parallax Adj. I found it for just under $200.00 New.

Have not purchased it yet, but it is in my wish list.

Congratulations on the new rifle. Optics are out of sight these days, no pun intended.

I know there are some excellent scopes available for decent prices, but figuring out which is which is tough. I'm in a similar situation, tight money and needing a good longer range scope.

That is the same thing I'm looking for which is why I chose this one. My first choice is naturaly the leupold but I don't have a Grand to spare to apply it to a $800.00 Rifle.

Kelly,Don't waste your money on a Barska scope,they're not a very good scope. Just save up and get a good quality scope and you won't regret waiting.

Check them out,and you might find a much better scope for your rifle at a price you can afford.

As a general rule good optics will cost more that the rifle they are attached to. What do you plan to do with this rifle? Knowing that would help us better assist you in a choice.

I know people with $2,000 scopes on $800 rifles. The skys the limit when it comes to good glass. What price range are you looking to stay in?

For a little bit more money you can have a very nice Nikon buckmaster 6-18x40mm a much much better scope in my eyes.

Give us a price range and we can spend your money really well.

Baraska is not worth $199 any of them.

I saved to 3 months to get my first scope on my 223.

It was a Weaver KT-15 15x40mm This is a very good scope and you can get this which will be brighter and more clear than any baraska scope in the world and it is cheaper to boot.

It is not a variable power but 15x will get you our to well over 300 yards with a 22-250.

Savage Arms Model 11 BTH (Short Action)

Above is the Rifle I am working with, in 22-250 Rem. Cal. It is not a heavy barreled Weapon, and I do not expect to achieve 1000 yard accuracy from it. I had a Ruger Varminter M77 in which had the heave Barrel, well suited to Long Range shooting, which I put a Burris Fullfield II 6.5X20X50 Duplex Fine Cross hair Scope on it. I don't expect this Rifle to Compete with that one, I'm 67 years old and Don't do much hunting, but do like to plink and take a Groundhog once in a while, or a Coyote. I have read quite a few reviews on the Barska Scope and spoken to my Gun Smith about them. I also know that by ordering from SWFA if I'm not happy I can exchange it. The biggest problem I'm having is trying to find a Decent long Range Scope that has the Ballistic Dot System, or a BDC Lighted Cross Hair, 6x24x44 or 50 side parallax Adj. ans a 30mm tube. The worst part is $300.00 is my highest price range I can live with, I only get $162.00 a month to play with, Which is why I thought I could find some additional input here, so now you have my parameters. It took me a year to get the Rifle.

I looked at that one but it is only a 1" tube, No parallax Adj.

That Weaver KT-15 will do what ever you want to do with your rifle. I am telling you. My dad has 3 Ruger M77MkII VT wearing that same scope.

Ok man so you have $162 to play with the scope I showed you is $155 not that bad.
Your not going to find a Burris quality 30mm tube side focus scope for $175. Sorry just ain't gonna happen.

The weaver KT-15 has an adjustable objective so That really takes care of the parallax problem. I have taken squirrels out to 300 yards with a 223 204 adn 22-250 with the KT-15.
