So I bought my AR a few weeks ago, it has a very new-looking Nikon Hunter's Special scope on it. I have only had a chance to put about 10 rounds down range so far. I have figured out that I'm more of a factory site guy or maybe a red dot. Anybody think dumb of me for wanton to get rid I the scope for a red dot???

Honestly there are so many different options for sights for the ar 15 that it is just a matter of personal preference. ?Just ask yourself what you want to use your ar for. For a combat rifle I prefer iron sights ,for hunting
I would go with a scope.

I've been thinking similar thoughts.

I'm looking at something for my Colt LE6940. Up until now I've kept the carbine as light as possible with iron sights only. I have taken an interest in the Aimpoint Micro H-1. It weighs less than 4 oz and fits my light weight requirements.

I plan on replacing my iron sights with the DD-RTS.

I went with a Bushnell Trophy XLT 1-4x24 - 4A reticle with a red dot in the center. Takes care of both and still works with out the red dot if the battery fails.

With the right mount, your H-1 or T-1 will lower 1/3 cowitness with your iron sights.

Ya, with my LE6940 the front sight is not removable so I think I'll go with the co-wit setup. Thanks.

So I wound up going with a Bullseye Zone red dot scope I picked up from a local consignment store. Anybody ever heard of these? It seems to be good quality and nice red dot. Now just gotta swap em II an get it sighted in...
