No comment, but I will let you guess, 50-50 shot at the correct answer.

Id use the Night Force NXS 5-22X50mm scope with the NPR1 reticle. However, reticles are like Fords and Chevys....it boils down mostly to the individuals preference and comfort and what they are familiar with. If you go with milled glass get knobs to match glass. This scope will give you 100 moa elevation adjustment and 60 moa wind adjustment. Also Badger rings are where you want to be for the scope rings but if you havn't bought the rings yet you might want look at the Seekins Precision rings too.

A 56mm objective might cause you to have to mount the scope higher than you really would want to thats why I would reccomend a 50 mm objective over a 56 mm objective. Higher magnifications than about 25 can give you a "mirage" effect when looking through scope as well. I do notice where I go to shoot that alot of bench guys do use higher magnifications than the 1000 yard prone shooters. Most (not all) prone 1000 yard shooters are using magnification limits in the 20 to 30 range. Also, most 1000 yard prone shootere here are using Night Force or Leupold MKIV scopes.

I prostrated over the decision of which scope to use on my build for a long time and finally went with the Night Force brand. And although I was at one time going to go with a tactical mill dot reticle with matching milled knobs I went with the NPR1 reticle.

Are you planning to shoot in the F-TR or the F-O class competitions?

The guys here at Quantico just call it F-class. there is everything from a 14 year old girl that shoots a very nice 243 win running I think a 7 twist barrel on up to a few guys shooting some kick ass 300 AI mags. the 300 AI mag is a 300 weatherby with a 40* shoulder and almost nill body taper We are talking WOWzer in velocity I think one guys said something like 3800FPS with a 220gr SMK. You can shoot anything from a 22-250 on up to 416 out there. One guy have a 338 Edge but he can't shoot that well.

I seen one guy that had a brass hammer that he had to beat open the bolt after each shoot he was running loads that were right on the ragged edge of blow up in his face. To tell you how I know this he kept in an ice chest packed with them gell block.

I have been think about this rifle for a few years. It has went from a 6mmbr or 6mmPPC 300 yard Bench gun to a 1000 yard F-Class rifle.

Here is one that is just about what I am looking for but his is a bit shorter barrel than what I am looking for.

.284 Win Tactical Hunter

I like the 284 and in the 7mm it is not all that bad of a barrel burner. Now neck it down to a 6.5mm and yes 1000 maybe 1500 and you have a $300 tomato stake. If I were to go with a different cartridge it would be a toss up between the 6XC, 6dasher or a 260 Remington Ackley Improved. At one time I was going to use the 308 but I like the ballistics I can get from the 180gr Berger in the 284. That and we all know that the 308 is barley a long range round, yes I know the USMC and the US Army use it. But why handicap your self from the get go.
