Leupold MkIV, Nightforce, S&B are about the only ones I would put on top of one of them things.

Any good scope will take it.

The Barrett Package Deal came with Bushnell Elite 3200's as one option.

I mounted an IOR 6-24x50 on my buddy's Barrett (M95, .50BMG) and he loves it.

Recoil on an M82 is much softer than their bolt guns, though I have not used the .416.

Default scope power?

what would be the minimum scope power that would be needed for the 416 Barrett, is there such a thing as too much or not enough? im looking at a leupold mk4 in 4-14x50, which seems like a good choice. any ideas? thanks!

That Leup is a good choice. I prefer lower power ranges, but a good rule of thumb is 1X for every 100 yards.

So, a 14x is sufficient to 1400 yards.

Plenty of great scopes avail with those power ranges. Check out a few before buying one.

USO will make one with every option that you choose, and they are made in USA.

I like the IOR 3-18 FFP for a good all around long range scope, and it is hard to beat for anywhere near it's cost.

Get US Optics direct from them. They make a great scope. I did not like them a few years ago, but the new glass is excellent. And they make them to order, any way you want. And you can treat one like a baseball bat and it won't break.

Get IOR from Valdada direct (they are the importers) or from SWFA.
