With Leupold I wouldn't go below the VX-3 line all the rest of their scopes are not all that good.

In the $500 range you have tons of options.

What caliber are you shooting? Just curious

Have you considered looking at a pre-owned scope? You could get a lot more optic for your $$ going that direction. This country is rife with grown play babies that have $$ but no skill/ attention span when it comes to a lot of things, firearms are no different. I see great deals on used scopes all the time, try armslist or gunbroker.com, to name a few.....
