You might want to consider a Weaver Grand Slam scope. Nice scope, very decent optics thats made in Japan by one of leading Asian scope makers. Depending on power range you want, you can buy a 4.5-14x40 A.O. to a 6-20x40 A.O. between $300 and $380 at

Want a lesser cost scope, then think about a BSA Gold Star 3-18x44 or 4-24x50. Both have side focus A.O.s. Have had one each of these scopes on centerfire rifles, one a .308, for well over a year now and after quite a few rounds downrange with them, wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Nice optics in them and ajustments for windage and etc are OK. Last time I checked around Grafs and Sons had lowest prices I could find on them.
